Tree Planting

A little while ago we went to Tahuna beach to do some tree planting. We had to plant trees to stop erosion and to give native animals a home. We each planted about 10-14 trees but we had to go in groups. It was lots of fun and at the end we felt good about ourselves for helping our community.

Senior Disco

Last month the student council held the senior syndicate disco. We had awesome music by Milan and Sam. We had a great time dancing, talking and eating some delicious food. The disco was to raise money for Socks our school cat, (Mrs White's baby.... she also dressed up as Socks!!!) It started at 5:00 and ended at 7:00pm. At about 6:30pm we went outside and played a weird game of spotlight....(the house captains were the taggers) but it was heaps of fun and we got house points for it. We had a great time.

Learning to ski!!

Year 6 ski trip

  1. All of the year six's went to rainbow ski field to go skiing or snowboarding. Only 5 of us went snowboarding. There were quite a few skiers with level 1 ability. All of the snowboarders were level 2 or 3 ability.

  2. The ski field was very cool and we all had a great day. Most of the level 1 skiers who started up on the beginner's slope made it onto the whole mountain. (snowboarding is way harder). The snowboarders were just about to go up to the big slope but we had to get ready to go home.

  3. But all and all we had a great day.

First ever rugby game re-enactment in Nelson

On Tuesday the 20th of September we went to see a re-enactment of the first ever rugby game. We walked down with Boys College and police escorts. Then we went down to the Church steps to see a haka by the boys college. It was AWESOME. Next we went down to the Botanics to see the game. The players were wearing weird karate outfits and lots of the crowd were dressed up too. There was a streaker and the posts were like sticks. It was odd. Then at half time we watched a synchronised gym perfomance by boys college gymnasts. They did pyramids and crazy things like that. At half time, lots of people left but we stayed because we liked the old game. The game was awesome and we were so glad we watched it.

Haka

On Tuesday the 20th of September 2011 we went to the cathedral steps to watch the Boys College do the haka before going to the re-enactment of the first ever rugby game in New Zealand. There was a Maori leader who wore a flax outfit. He danced around shouting Maori chants. There was a massive crowd of people who were enjoying a great show and there were news reporters filming it to put it on one news later that evening.
